Tiburtius Prize 2024
The Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society is pleased to announce that Dr. Antonia Herzog, Department of Interface Science, has been awarded the 1st Prize of the Tiburtius Prize 2024 for her outstanding dissertation. The prize, awarded by the Berlin Universities' Conference of Rectors and Presidents, recognizes excellent academic work at Berlin universities.
Dr. Herzog, who completed her PhD from 2019 to 2023 at the Fritz Haber Institute, received her Doctorate in Chemistry from the Technical University Berlin with the highest distinction, "Summa cum laude." Her dissertation, titled “Operando Insights into Size and Shape-controlled Cu-based Nanocatalysts for the Electrochemical Reduction of CO2 toward C2+ Products,” was supervised by Dr. Arno Bergmann and Prof. Dr. Beatriz Roldán Cuenya at the Department of Interface Science. Her research focused on the developing copper-based nanocatalysts for the electrochemical conversion of carbon dioxide into chemical raw materials and fuels.
Since completing her dissertation, Dr. Herzog has been working as a Postdoc in the electrochemical energy lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the USA, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Yang Shao-Horn.
The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, from 4 to 6 PM at the Technical University of Berlin, Straße des 17. Juni 135, 10623 Berlin, Lecture Hall H 3005. A reception will follow.
The Tiburtius Prize, named after Professor Joachim Tiburtius, annually honors outstanding dissertations and master's theses at Berlin universities. The 1st Prize for dissertations is endowed with 4,000 Euros.
We warmly congratulate Dr. Antonia Herzog on this well-deserved recognition and wish her continued success in her scientific career.
