On the MPG Homepage (About us | Procedures and Regulations) you can find a comprehensive list of rules for good scientific practice and how scientific misconduct is handled.

The document will introduce you to the general principles of scientific responsibility relating to scientific practice at the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft, as well as to the specific behavioural rules when researching or publishing (quality assurance, research standards, open science, etc.).
On the flipside, it will also outline rules on how scientific misconduct will be handled.

Keep in mind that all MPG members must abide by the Rules of Good Scientific Practice.

Think. Check. Submit. has redesigned their website. The new website has been brought up-to-date and aims to make identifying trusted journals and publishers even easier!
They have worked to improve accessibility and user experience, and made it easier to find the resources you need to avoid predatory publishing.

Especially checklists have received numerous improvements:

• Ease of access: finding whether a journal or book publisher is suitable or not is now just a few clicks away.
• Languages: The journals checklist is translated into 44 languages, and the books and chapters checklist into 13 languages.
• Interactivity: The checklists are now interactive. Users can check questions when their answers are positive and export them to share with co-authors.
• Offline availability: You can download template checklist in English for offline use.

We are glad to announce that all MPG employees now have access to SciFlow - the online text editor for scientific papers.

Use SciFlow to input all the contents you need to produce a scientific paper. Formatting is done automatically, so you can concentrate on writing rather than worrying about numbering figures, creating tables of contents, and applying a citation style to your document.

Templates
SciFlow offers a variety of different templates for scientists as well as students. These range from style guides to pre-formatted document outlines for specific journals.

Reference management
You can also connect your reference management software to SciFlow or upload bibliography files to the reference library. From there, you can simply drag a reference into the editor, where it will be later automatically formatted in the citation style of your choice.

Collaborations
Streamlign your collaborations with other authors by inviting them to read, comment or even work together in real-time. (SciFlow account necessary)

Wir freuen uns Ihnen mitteilen zu können, dass Ihnen die Dokumente aus der VDE-Normenbibliothek nun über die MPG Literatur-Grundversorgung zur Verfügung stehen.
Dies beinhaltet das gesamte Archive und die Inhalte und Entwürfe der Gruppen 0-8 aus den VDE-Vorschriften.
Die Zentrale Lizenz enthält die Basisversion der VDE-Normen. Das Speichern und Drucken von Dokumenten ist also nicht möglich. Bei Bedarf an erweiterten Nutzungsfunktionalitäten müssen weiterhin lokale (ggf. Einzelplatz-)Lizenzen erworben werden.

We are happy to inform you that a publishing agreement for Open Access Books has been reached with Springer Nature!
These are the key points to take away:

• MPI affiliated authors receive a 35% discount on the Book Publishing Charge (BPC) for OA-books
• The remaining charge will be split 50/50 between the MPDL and the author/FHI
• The agreement applies retroactively from Jan 1^st 2022 until the end of 2024
• Includes all English and German language Springer Nature books imprints and series
• CC-BY license is the default
