Fritz Forum: New Event for Exchange and Networking at the Institute
The PhD representatives at the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society actively advocate for the interests of doctoral candidates and enrich the institute's life through regular meetings and the exchange of ideas. One of their recent initiatives is the "Fritz Forum" event series, which promotes exchange and networking within the institute and provides a platform for learning, discussion, and idea exchange.
At the second event of this series, two colleagues from the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics (MolGen) were invited as speakers. They delivered an exciting lecture on "Genes and People: Research & Life at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics." The two provided insights into the structure and research focuses of their institute, allowing for an interesting comparison with our own institute.
The lectures by Dr. Jakob Schweizer, Research Coordinator, and Sándor Fülöp, Press and Public Relations Officer, were extremely enriching. Dr. Schweizer presented the fundamental research and structure of MolGen, while Sándor Fülöp showcased current research projects.
The Max Planck Society (MPG) is divided into three sections: the Biological-Medical Section, to which MolGen belongs; the Humanities, Social, and Human Sciences Section, to which our neighboring institute, the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, belongs; and the Chemical-Physical-Technical Section, to which the Fritz Haber Institute belongs. Specifically, at our location in Berlin Dahlem, we are fortunate that all three sections of the MPG are located within a very small walking radius, representing the entire MPG in a small circle.
A big thank you goes to the PhD representatives for this great initiative, which brings the institute closer together and facilitates exchange between the MPIs. Such events are of great value to the scientific community, and we look forward to future events of this kind.
