Surface Chemistry Spanning Surface Composition and Surface Structure
Catalytic surface chemistry is determined, to a large extent, by catalyst surface composition and surface structure. In the case of metallic catalysts, this translates to alloy surface composition and crystallographic surface orientation.

One challenge to understanding the dependence of surface chemistry on these two parameters is that it requires complementary measurement and modelling across continuous, multidimensional variable spaces. Tackling this from the experimental perspective has required the development of high throughput measurement strategies that can acquire data across these spaces. I will present two examples of such studies. One is the measurement of surface segregation on ternary alloys spanning composition space: CuxAuyPd1-x-y with x = 0 -> 1 and y = 0 -> 1-x. The second will be the measurement of reaction kinetics across Cu (hkl) surfaces spanning continuous ranges of crystallographic orientations vicinal to the low Miller index planes.
