International conference in Prague started today
The international conference "Challenges on renewable energy storage" at Liblice Castle near Prague started today with strong FHI participation. The conference from 29 to 31 August is being held jointly with the Czech J. Heyrovský Institute for Physical Chemistry and with the support of the CatLab project.
The development and deployment of novel energy concepts that address both environmental and energy independence concerns is perhaps the greatest challenge facing the chemical industry in the 21st century. The war in Ukraine requires an even faster transformation of the energy system, including energy security aspects.
The field of catalysis-based energy concepts is of particular importance. The Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society and the J. Heyrovský Institute for Physical Chemistry have been working together on these concepts for a long time. Now, through the research platform CatLab with the participation of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin and the use of the synchrotron accelerator BESSY II, there are new possibilities for analysis. The aim of the first international conference "Challenges on renewable energy storage" is to bring together the leading minds in the field of catalysis, electrocatalysis and their technological implementation, to promote the exchange of views on the latest developments and to renew the necessary interdisciplinary networks that were interrupted by the pandemic.
The conference will take place under the personal patronage of Helena Langšádlová, Minister of Science, Research and Innovation of the Czech Republic, and is mentioned in the official programme of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU.
